VA LGY Solution Architect

The Solution Architect will lead the overall solution design to meet business needs. They’ll partner with Product Management to gain an understanding of the problem, identify business needs, and discover potential solutions to meet business needs. They’ll also need to be able to assess current systems, identify areas of improvement, and support development and product teams. The Solution Architect works closely with and regularly updates the client on projects and initiatives.

Key Job Functions

  • Analyze current technologies used within the company and determine ways to improve
  • Document and monitor requirements needed to institute proposed updates
  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions
  • Propose and establish appropriate frameworks, whether custom or off-the-shelf
  • Plan for project challenges and risks including time, resources, and scope
  • Work closely with product management teams to create solutions and successfully monitor progress of initiatives
  • Coordinate with multiple teams to remove impediments and ensure delivery of continuous value
  • Understand relationship of data with respect to business process
  • Define data cleansing rules (Data Quality rules)
  • Create and maintain STTM for all data flow (Source to Landing Zone, LZ to Trusted Data Lake, TDL to Data Warehouse, DW to Data Mart)
  • Engage with design and architecture team to provide functional oversight that drives the data model design
  • Define data integration/transformation rules (DW to DM)
  • Create and maintain Source Table Inventory against the Dashboards
  • Create and maintain data dictionary for DM
  • Ensure all epics and stories have clear DORs (Definition of Ready)
  • Define business SLAs and NFRs (data availability and latency)
  • Leads analysts to access new sources of data and integration into new data platform
  • Obtain needed business information pertaining to technical design
  • Validate complete documentation (ETL Solution) to enable development team to build new ETL
  • Populate data catalog metadata and manage standard business definitions
  • Create dashboard mockups and facilitate backlog refinement

  • Broad knowledge of computer software, hardware, networking, and programming languages.

 Qualifications

  • 5-7+ years of related experience.
  • 3+ years’ hands-on relational, dimensional and/or analytic experience using RDBMS, dimensional, NoSQL data platform technologies and ETL and data ingestion protocols
  • 2+ years’ experience with SQL querying
  • 2+ years’ experience conducting ad-hoc data analytics to support a range of research questions
  • Experience with data warehouse, data lake, and enterprise big data platforms in multi-data-center contexts required
  • Knowledge of metadata management, data modeling and related tools. (Erwin or ER Studio and others)
  • Experience with databases (SQL etc.) and programming (XML, JavaScript or ETL frameworks)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with loan industry terminology data sets
  • Ability to translate user needs to technical requirements for data sourcing and profiling
  • Ability to learn new data sets and data models and ask questions about data lineage to learn how to analyze the data
  • Understanding of Cloud PaaS offerings and experience with containers and microservice architectures.
  • Experience with Oracle is a plus, but not required.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required.

Minimum Experience

5-7+ years of related experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Data cataloging experience
  • Data stewardship experience
  • Knowledge of Python, R, open-source tools
  • Experience presenting analytic results in a clear and concise presentation such as slides, memos or reports
  • Mortgage analytics experience
  • Familiarity with the mortgage industry to include working knowledge of mortgage data.
  • Experience with Veteran Affairs (Current PIV/GFE enablement).
  • Experience with client facing role.
