Our Impact
While we believe in being present in the moment, we never lose sight of our vision to positively impact the future for our communities, company, and clients. It is not the size of the impact that matters. What matters is continuous and authentic impact for the people who matter most. Our purpose as a company is to influence positive change and advocate for opportunities that result in happier, healthier, more equal, and more knowledgeable communities, team members, and clients.

PhoenixTeam proves value realization begins with product discovery
PhoenixTeam guided a mortgage technology start-up to increase speed to delivery by five times, focusing on the most important but often the most ignored part of the Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC), Product Discovery. With a magic combination of Phoenix’s expertise and a start-up’s willingness and hunger to realize value, together they saw an increase in customer satisfaction, stronger employee engagement, more engaged, empowered, and collaborative engineering teams, and reduced costs.
What started as an eight-week engagement focused on teaching and coaching discovery best practices evolved into an eight-month partnership to create and implement a custom product development framework focused on speed to understanding and value realization. The client’s new framework blended elements of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Large Scale Scrum (LeSS), and Teresa Torres’s Continuous Discovery Habits, amongst others, to fit the client’s unique culture and product organization. The outcome of the framework resulted in cost savings of $344K over the life of the engagement and reduced lead time to deliver new feature sets by over 60%. Stay tuned for the case study to learn more about PhoenixTeam’s impact on this Mortgage Technology Start-Up and why the client’s Vice President of Engineering said, “we got more done with the PhoenixTeam in six months than we’ve done in the previous 2.5 years”.

PhoenixTeam partners with VA to help protect Veteran homeownership
PhoenixTeam supported the design and build of the VA Loan Electronic Reporting Interface (VALERI), a system that helps the VA Loan Guaranty (LGY) program manage and monitor efforts taken by private-sector loan servicers and VA staff in providing timely and appropriate loss mitigation assistance to defaulted borrowers. VA has estimated that without VALERI and the dedicated staff within the LGY program, approximately 90,000 Veterans and their families would be in jeopardy of losing their homes each year, potentially costing the government an additional $2.8 billion per year. Phoenix helped lead the custom development and data conversion of the 4+ million loan portfolio and VALERI production go live event on May 28, 2019.

PhoenixTeam supports Department of Veterans Affairs implementation of COVID-VAPCP
PhoenixTeam is in the process of implementing the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Assistance Partial Claim Payment program (COVID-VAPCP), a program to help veterans return to making normal loan payments on a VA-guaranteed loan if they have been experiencing financial hardship due, directly or indirectly, to the COVID-19 national emergency.

PhoenixTeam instrumental in modernizing USDA GUS system and helping to extend homeownership to eligible rural individuals and families
PhoenixTeam supported the modernization of the USDA Rural Housing Service (RHS) Government Underwriting System (GUS) that the Single-Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program (SFHGLP) uses to support the new Uniform Residential Loan Application (URLA) form. The purpose of the program is to extend homeownership to eligible rural individuals and families who cannot qualify for conventional or other mortgage financing. As of 2020, there were approximately 1,400 active lenders and a total SFHGLP portfolio over one million loans with a cumulative balance of approximately $124 billion. Without this modernization, the USDA guaranteed loan program would have ceased to exist as it would not have been compliant with the new URLA impacting USDA’s ability to extend homeownership to eligible rural individuals and families.

PhoenixTeam helps client complete first true eClosing in Massachusetts
Years before the covid pandemic facilitated an explosion in eClosings and remote notary, PhoenixTeam was leading the way helping our clients achieve an industry first. We supported the implementation of DocMagic’s SmarCLOSE system for Radius Financial Group and Santander Bank to complete the first fully paperless, electronic mortgage closing in Massachusetts. The transaction included eNotarization of key documents, including the eNote, which was registered on the MERS® eRegistry.

BriAnna Kleinmeyer Leads USO Toy Drive
Senior Practitioner, BriAnna Kleinmeyer , launched a $500 fundraiser on Giving Tuesday, November 30, 2021, for the United Service Organizations Toy Drive for Military Families in Jacksonville, FL. Within five days, the Phoenix village consisting of less than 100 folks raised $2,500. PhoenixTeam topped off the fundraiser to reach a total of $3,000, 500% over our original fundraising goal. We distributed the funds amongst six diverse organizations, sponsored gifts for 20 children, and purchased every item on their list.

Phoenicians Walk for Our Warriors
Phoenix pledged $1 per mile walked for every 20 active minutes by a team member throughout December to The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), a nonprofit organization that helps veterans and active-duty service members. PhoenixTeam raised $2,020 to assist in the recovery and wellbeing of our nation’s severely wounded veterans, help them reacclimate to a civilian lifestyle, treat common mental health issues post-deployment like PTSD, and support the Women Warriors Initiative, a report developed by the WWP to address additional challenges that women face while serving our country.

PhoenixTeam Helps Pave the Path to Recovery
Throughout the month of November 2021, we challenged all Phoenicians to walk nine miles a week for the 9% of Americans and 9% of the global population who have been diagnosed with an eating disorder. For every mile walked, PhoenixTeam pledged $1 to Rock Recovery, a nonprofit organization that offers holistic, outpatient rehabilitation programs for people with disordered eating in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and California. Our team walked over four million steps, raising $1,700. For more information, resources, volunteering opportunities, and more, visit https://rockrecoveryed.org/.

PhoenixTeam Battles Breast Cancer in October Step Challenge
October marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month and PhoenixTeam’s Step Challenge for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. (NBCF). With one in eight women receiving a breast cancer diagnosis in her lifetime, we honored them by challenging Phoenicians to walk eight miles a week, pledging $1 per mile. We took over five million steps and raised $2,500, beating our goal by 261%. The NBCF uses $25 to grant access to the patient navigator to guide people with a recent diagnosis through recovery. The foundation uses $50 to distribute a HOPE Kit, a package filled with items that provide comfort and encouragement for patients undergoing breast cancer treatment. $100 sponsors a woman to attend a breast cancer support group. With $150, the NBCF can cover a mammogram for those with limited access to care due to cost. PhoenixTeam’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month Step Challenge can fund 100 p atient navigators, 50 HOPE Kits, 25 individuals to attend a support group, or 16 mammograms that are critical for early detection.

PhoenixTeam Steps Up for Students
From Monday, September 6 to Friday, September 17, 2021, PhoenixTeam pledged $0.25 to the Kids in Need Foundation (KINF) for every mile walked in our Back-to-School Step Challenge. KINF funds school supplies for under-resourced schools to ensure equal access to education and school materials. Phoenicians walked 1,040 miles, allowing us to donate 10 backpacks, each filled with three folders, two notebooks, a pair of scissors, two glue sticks, a pack of post-its, a ruler, and a pencil pouch with pencils, markers, pencil sharpener, an eraser, and pens.

PhoenixTeam and Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation (HBFF) partner to support LGBTQ+ community.
Access to quality, affordable healthcare to recover from substance use is something the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation (HBFF) and PhoenixTeam feel passionate about. Struggling with a substance use disorder is not easy, and barriers to proper healthcare make the struggle that much harder to manage; our partnership is about identifying and eliminating these barriers. The LGBTQ+ community has a particularly rocky relationship with adequate healthcare that respects the various aspects of their sexual and gender identities. In an effort to better provide resources for the LGBTQ+ community, HBFF and PhoenixTeam brought JustUs Health in to audit the St. Paul facility. The audit focused on the resources and operations of the facility to see what practices are respecting the needs of the LGBTQ+ community and which aren’t. Our goal over the next few months of the partnership is to identify the ways HBFF can improve their care for all disadvantaged communities and put a plan into action. We look forward to continuing this partnership and making HBFF the premier location for inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible healthcare for all.

PhoenixTeam Silver-Sponsor of Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville (DSAJ) Annual Buddy Walk.
PhoenixTeam joins the effort to impact the down syndrome community of Jacksonville, FL. Since 2018, we have sponsored the annual Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville (DSAJ) Buddy Walk. There are approximately 350,000 individuals living with Down Syndrome in the United States, making it the most common occurring chromosomal condition. Those with Down Syndrome often have several intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Buddy Walk is a way to bring awareness, share stories, and raise funds while celebrating these folks. The one mile walk down beautiful Jacksonville Beach gives our team members an opportunity to participate and meet some of these amazing human beings. As a sponsor, and with our die-hard belief in I.D.E.A., we help create a community where all people with Down Syndrome are actively included, given opportunities to participate and contribute as valued citizens, and have the choices to create their own paths to fulfillment and success. We look forward to continuing to support DSAJ and their mission to creating a community that is educated, supportive, and inclusive of individuals with Down Syndrome.
